rich slave

I'm really disappointed...

that world's richest slave wants to leave.

Personally, as a staunch ManU supporter, I'm really surprised that our best player, Ronaldo wants to leave the heroics he has done for United for Real Madrid! What do they have to offer there that we don't have? In Old Trafford, he's treated like a God; everyone worships the 42-goals hero. All the kids in the playground wants to be 'Ronaldo'. Because of him, now, the stepovers are the new in-thing! Ok maybe I'm not making a point yet. But to put it simply, the fans love him here in the EPL.

Before this, two years back, he was the most hated player in England. (He got Rooney sent off in the World Cup 06) The only ones who stood by his side were ManU. We kept fate in him. I mean he's a competitive player... that's understandable. Now out of the sudden, Real Madrid comes knocking when he still has 4 years on his contract?! Clubs like Real Madrid can't just swoop down and kidnap all the best players! I also agree with Pele that players should honour their contract especially when his current club still wants him.

Ironically I also read that Cannavaro, the Italian defender who plays for Real Madrid says that he also thinks that Ronaldo should play out the remaining of his contract with ManU. I also heard Cannavaro is speaking on behalf of all his teammates. Of course there will be some who will feel threatened when a new star is coming to town. But there are also some who are real excited with the prospect of playing alongside with him - like Shneijder, Robinho. They have also made it clear they don't want to be part of any deal to lure ManU into letting Ronaldo go.

Another scandalous news I heard was that Ronaldo just broke up with his Spanish fiance. I thought another reason he could move was because of her. She could be closer to home that way. I was about to say that for a true professional, he should disregard what his partner wants. He could dump her and get another one. Afterall, she sounds like a vampire. But then after reading further, apparently, Sergio Ramos, a Spanish defender in the Real Madrid team used to have an affair with her! Good riddance!

From ManU's pount of view... We don't want to sell him at any price... that's final. He's an asset and we have no intentions of cashing in on him. Th Glazers (owners) also said that they would rather see him 'rot' in the reserves than sell to him off at around US$100mil. Well... I would have also said the same thing. I don't want to see him playing against us in the Champions League at all! But for a player's career sake, everyone has a price. And I think Real Madrid should really break the bank to sign him.

At the moment, Ronaldo is recuperating from an ankle surgery on his right foot. He will be out until mid October regardless who he will be playing for after the transfer window closes. It seems he isn't speaking to anyone at the moment. He is also not answering Sir Alex's phone calls. But I think that's just hoax. Anywho... I don't think any player should be bigger than the club. So if he thinks his head already punctures throught the roof of the Theatre of Dreams, then we would let him go. But I think it will be a big mistake. I'm not going to compare to any other players in the past history. But I think he won't be able to adapt to the Real's style of play. He could falter as a player.

However, if he stays at United, he could be a Legend and stand as tall with the likes of Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best, Eric Cantona, Bryan Robson, Roy Keane, Ryan Giggs and many more.

A statue of Manchester United's 'Holy Trinity' of Sir Bobby Charlton, George Best and Denis Law has been unveiled at Old Trafford.
