Aaron Ramsey
It is such a tragedy that this had to happen to a talented 19-year old. It must have felt like a deja-vu, knowing only too well that this has happened before but to another player of yours, Eduardo, (I don't have to remind you but...) whose leg was also horrifically broken in quite similar fashion two years back. (...I need to stress how serious this is.)
Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has suffered a VERY VERY serious injury. The Welshman appeared to have his lower leg broken in a tackle with Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross, who was shown a red card by referee Peter Walton. Shawcross left the field in tears, while players from both sides were visibly traumatised as medics administered emergency treatment and gave Ramsey an oxygen mask. I sincerely hope Aaron Ramsey will comeback and continue to play and dazzle us on the pitch like he always does. You have all football fans' sympathy. Best wishes, and once again; I am sure I speak for all; we hope Aaron makes a speedy recovery.
Cheers!
From a Manchester United fan.

magnificent 7
We left, our stomachs still growling. In the car, I asked my parents how was dinner. They said "good". I said I it wasn't enough. My sis ditto-ed that. My parents were shocked and then started lecturing about the cost of the dinner. Sighs... They said everyone at the 'adults' table were satiated. Anyway, at home after that during the highlights, I had some yam cake, albeit a bit heavy for a midnight snack. My grandma and mom made it.
So sitting at Uncle Chow's sofa, I silent wished the game to have more action. 10 minutes later, Giggs's cross was met by Fletcher. Everybody shouted!! I just punched the air. I was kinda in the silent mode... still. Uncle Khing also talked about the game at Old Trafford a few weeks back. He reminisced about the loud celebrations there at the Theater of Dreams. Anyway, the theater still had enough time for some more drama. Rio gave the ball away to Barry.. we were all like "no... No... NOOOO...". It was like an opera. The reverberating "No (s)" filled the air, each getting louder and louder, as the other grown-ups still chatter-away about something, something. As for us 'kids' around the tv, including Uncle Khing, we were all grumbling, cussing at Rio for his carelessness. At the moment when he had lunged forward, I rather he gave away a penalty. Anyway to preserved the 3-2 lead. But at 89:57, City were back leveled at 3-3. I felt like ripping my hair off. Ok probably we had brought Rio back from injury too soon. He didn't play against Besiktas in midweek. SO.. perhaps he wasn't sharp from his lack of games so far this season.
So, at the Stretford End, of TTDI, we were all silent. Uncle Fook Far came out from the toilet, and was like "WHAT HAPPENED??" Uncle Khing brought him up back up to level, just like the score. We were still all grumbling. Then my mom, 3 minutes late, "Har?? JooLian, 3-3 already ar???" *Grunts*... I went. The guys (LunYao, Xiang, ShiVern, Loong Sheng) were like out the door at 93rd min. They had planned to go Hartamas during dinner. They were talking gibberish to me about 'snake??' or was it 'snape??'... some foosball terms which I don't get. Anyway, my ass was still glued to the chair. I wanted to still stick with the team. Uncle Chow was like "Wei.. they calling you ar". At 94:30, I stood up. The fourth official had indicated 4 mins of injury time. So, I thought it was nearly over. This must be time added on to time added on, I thought. Then, a freekick at 95:00. I was near the door, still feeling upset about the scoreline.
All of them popped their head back in when they heard there was a freekick. But the ball was headed back out. Lousy freekick! Tevez (at City) came rushing out, but Rooney got to it first and launched the ball back into the penalty box. It came back out again, only to come to one man, Giggs. He sent the ball to the left of the penalty box, with a fine long pass, where he found OWEN, who somehow had found some space. Richards had left him there all alone. The second after that (95.28) seemed to be broken into flashes of a movie timeframe, like everything was going in slow motion. Frame by frame, each millisecond was played. I was suddenly looking at it from different points of view, different areas of the stadium itself. It was like the movie series '24'. My vision was broken down into 4 parts. Owen controlled the ball excellently. One of his only touches after coming on as a sub just before Fletcher scored his second. You could hear the beats of our hearts. It was nearly in our mouths. The fans all stood up in a superbly red wave-like fashion. Pupils dilate. Richards came lunging towards the ball. Given the City keeper closed the angle on Owen. Somehow the sun pierced through the clouds at that precise moment on the man with the ball. You could only focus on Owen's right boots. He lifted the ball over the diving keeper, just inches over the sliding tackle of Richards. Eyes of the world were all on the ball. With our pulse nearing 150 beats per second, with each gland in our body all pumping like crazy, with adrenaline coursing through our veins, with dopamine all over in our brain, we all shouted GOOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!

Bolt
Had he gotten to a better start, had he not turn to look at the clock before crossing the line, who knows how much lower the 100m world record could have been slashed?? 9.4s perhaps??But Bolt still manage to finish the race ahead of Gay in 9.58s!! Still an amazing feat!! Best of all, he beat the previous world record (which he set in Beijing in last year's Olympics), by a monstrous 0.11s!!
By my calculations, Bolt was running at an average of 37.578kph or 23.350mph! To put into perspective how fast that is...
In Malaysia, for school areas, the speed limit of 35 kph (20 mph) is applicable during rush hours. Bolt, would not be allowed to do any sprinting near any schools. He might get a speeding ticket from patrolling officers (if can catch him). Also, running at that speed would trigger automatic cameras installed in the area.
But jokes aside, Bolt, once again, I am a huge fan!

I dunno about everyone else. I kinda like the arrangement at the top of the table :D Manchester United are top! Liverpool dropped points this morning to remain second.
It has been long coming, but we are top for the first time this season. To me this is already Chinese New Year!
It's still a long way more, but I believe we will retain the title this year, which would annoy Liverpool fans even more ;)

Man United sign Serbian duo
Check out the video of both players! Super talented! The difference in their hair style.
- This is could probably spell the end of Nani...
- I do hope we can still sign Tevez on a permanent deal.

fedex
By the time I reached the KLCC Philharmonic Hall at 11.00am , there were already nearly 800++ people! Some had begun queuing up as early as 9.00am! There were many die-hard fans! I mean serious fans! They had tennis balls - big & small, racquets and other memorabilias. Alls I brought were the shirt that clothed me and the bag on my back with my ever loyal plastic water bottle.
Some cool fans! Their banner is really awesome. It showed the prices of some famous Swiss stuffs and Federer being priceless.Note the guy wearing a hat and waving a South African flag. Federer's dad is Swiss but his mom is South African! Betcha didn't know that right?? Now you know!
So when he came in a Mercedes.. not a Swiss brand but who cares... everybody started blowing their horns and rushed to take his pic. I was blocked off many times!! damnit...

I ran out of my queue to get a better close view. All I see was the back of his head though. He was reading the papers. Star I think.
I then ran in to get another picture - because I wasn't satisfied with what I took so far. But... yea....So I got back into line but ended up further behind in the queue.

After awhile, the guards blocked off the queue. But what can just a few men do? Some very desperate fans managed to barge through without much resilience from the men in uniforms. So much for security..

The 1000 dispersing fans after Federer went upstairs instead. Everyone was expecting him to come down. I also though of leaving.
RTM interviewing some fans.
A small souvenir... =)Ok I didn't shake his hands. But lucky to be at the right place at the right time when they were handing this out. Haha! I rushed to uni after that for a meeting.

5-0 on his 50th
(After ManU's 5-0 demolition of Stoke at home - referring to 17 years old Danny Welbeck's bending fierce strike into the top right hand corner from 25 metres out in the 84th for United's fourth)
You got to admire Ronaldo's 'modesty' XD
Ok. But who deserves more celebration? Ronaldo for scoring his 100th and 101st for the club (253 appearances)? Welbeck's first senior goal on his debut; plus he was born and bred in Manchester? I think it's Sir Alex Ferguson's 50th year in the game; and he ain't slowing down just yet! And to think he almost migrated to Canada to be a toolmaker when he was 21years old! Thankfully that didn't come to be!
Ferguson is adamant that he will stop managing at 70 - in December, 2011. Then who knows what will he do after that. Perhaps coach Great Britain for the 2012 Olympics? A perfect way to end his career! At the big stage! Though it will be very emotional to him and to us all. Sources say that Capello is very keen to be at the helm of United. He is the perfect, big personality to take over at Old Trafford, having won nine League titles in Italy and Spain, as well as the European Cup.
Anyway, Chelsea and Liverpool better watch out! Manchester United are hot on their heels!

watchout Chelsea!

I thought Berbatov was excellent this weekend! Finally, we see glimpses of what he can do. I thought his partnership with Rooney was awesome although the latter was a late sub. But I have no doubts in my mind that if he continues playing the way he played against Bolton, he will soon open his ManU account. We are now being compared as to how symmetrical our start is this season and last season. 8 points from 5 games. Exactly the same as last season. So, meaning we will do the double again this year! =D
And that admin guy from my uni must be so ecstatic that Hull beat Arsenal 2-1 away! And they weren't just lucky. They played superbly, with lots of guts to comeback from a goal down and plenty of discipline to shut out the Gunner's attack. He must be overjoyed I bet. No one expected this result. Some say it's definitely shock result of the season.

super footballers
Usain Bolt, who swept the sprint titles at last month's Beijing Olympics in world-record time, will train with Spanish soccer champion Real Madrid.
The 22-year-old Jamaican, who claimed gold medals and world records in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 400-meter relay in Beijing, said Real had invited him to train with players including Raul Gonzalez and Ruud Van Nistelrooy.
- Bloomberg -
If footballers were to train with other Olympians...
1. There could be more flying tackles in the game... clean lar...Irving Saladino
2. There could be fitter footballers in the game who can run for 26 miles 385 yards or 42.195km in a single game - that's about quad the average player
Samuel Wanjiru
3. There could be more players who can skip challenges or tackles - prevents unnecessary injuries... or just scratch idea 1
Dayron Robles
4. There could be more overhead kicks in the game - that's what we want to see right?
Andrey Silnov
And of course, goalkeepers can't be spared from this training...
5. They could improve their ball distributions or throws - to initiate counter attacks; which ever style they prefer, shot-put style or hammer throw style
Tomasz Majewski

football apocalypto?

The Ali Babas of Manchester City's takeover was certainly the biggest coup of the summer as they hope to 'sheikh' the Premiership's Big Four domination by signing the World XI; which probably includes many of yours, mine and our favourites Tom, Dick and Harry set of players. I am saying they are ready to write as many zeroes as possible on their cheque books to get the ultimate dream team. But history as proven that money can't buy success. But what about money x billions?? That's a scary fact for any rivals; for within a day of the new owners' arrival, they have shown their intentions by signing Robinho for a whopping £32m! Mark Hughes is probably excited with the prospect of flexing his new bosses' money muscles and finally get who he wants! Not that Thaksin didn't provide him with his huge piggy bank before. But the Swiss Bank account of these Ali Babasians are so big that it makes Roman Abramovish's account look like that of a vagabond. Or you could say they have plenty of arms and legs to spare. Hmm. Why can't a green mutated multiple-legged octopus with regenerative properties be assosiated with a rich football club owner? They are puppeting the whole board, transfer policies, etc, anyway.
But I digress. Ok so why did they choose Manchester City?? Is the BPL really that profitable? If I were a Sheikh, I would think so. Hmm. In my opinion, the Premiership is the most watched league in the world. Of course it would be an enticing prospect for any megabuckians to market their brand globally through the English game. Who wouldn't do that right if they have the cash right?? Ok back to the question... why Manchester City??? Why didn't they proceed to get Arsenal?? That's a bigger club right? Perhaps Arsenal are already sponsored by Emirates? But I dunno... Maybe they just want a bigger challenge - to turn a cili padi club into a Juggernaut! Or maybe Manchester City realised that Thaksin wouldn't be there much longer, so better get the 'next big thing'.
Their arrival could really justify that all the big players want to play in the BPL. We could see an exodus from the Milans and Real Madrids when the transfer window reopens. Although it may be a good thing to freshen up the league, I can't help but feel that they could murder the game. You might say that I am a worried Devil now. Well wrong! In fact, we Devils are still calm bothering on Devil-may-care. Though I do wonder why didn't they get Manchester United. Not that we have any grievances about the Glazers. Just curious. Hmm.
Anyway, folks, for the good of the nature and the sport, please don't contribute to Ali Baba anymore. Please seize to replenish their endless, limitless and unmeasurable wealth! Please stop purchasing fuel!
And remember to only buy AIG Insurance :)
