listen to us

Ever since people started blog, we have been using it as a tool to express our thoughts; whether it is to rant about something we disapprove of, or to rave about something we love. Then we started to blog about everyday issues whether to let others see things from our perspective or to confer with others who have the same opinions. Take the most recent hoo-ha for example; the near-cancellation of punk-rocker, Avril Lavigne’s concert. I by no means is Avril’s number one fan. But I was incredulous and angered (an understatement) that our leaders had opted to cancel the concert just because it was apparently too close to our National Day and it might distract us and affect our mood for the celebrations this year. So like any youths, I had to feed the virtual mainstream by venting my frustrations about our Government’s decision. The good news is that the show will go on and everybody is happy.

So when the dust of ‘war’ settled, us bloggers would like to think that we had played a part in ‘persuading’ the Government into changing their minds. It shows that if each of us youths can share a common interest and goal, we can exert our power to blog about what we want and what we believed in. People and most importantly the youths have realized that our voices hold the power in our democratic country. Another issue which stirred the online community to work together was the fuel price hike. Friends in Facebook invite each other to join a group to show our displeasure in the extreme price hike. It is like a petition in other words which sparks awareness in others, not only within the country but outside as well. By having so many people joined the group, we proved that so many of us are disappointed with this decision. And yet again, the Government ‘responded’. Our Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Badawi recently announced the reduction of fuel price; not by a large margin for a celebration but we are substantially please with that outcome. Most importantly, it shows the Government are listening to us, mainly the youths. With empathetic ears, they will always try their best to accommodate to our whims and ideas. And with that, I too am satisfied.

So as members of the younger generation, we have to comprehend with the idea that the Government has entrusted us with this amount of power. We can use it in the nation-building of our community in every aspect including politics-wise. I have a lot of friends who are politics savvy. Back in school, apart from talking about football or girls, we used to fill each other up with the latest news happening in and around our country. Some may say ignorance is bliss but we were incessantly reading up about the state of country. We would then sit in groups discussing our leaders’ policies and then voicing out our own opinions. Even though many of us stand indifferent about our country’s politics, we agreed that our needs should be met and we weren’t even afraid to discuss about them with our teachers; though they were noticeably careful in choosing their words. However, there were some who either threw caution into the wind or accidentally let their thoughts slipped of their tongue.

Also by logging on to the internet, we are more inclined to know about what other countries think about us. Some news aren’t braved to be written in our newspaper columns. It can be so shocking and controversial by hearing the statements made by others. It is like listening to a gossip about ourselves from a third party. Sometimes the words are so explicit and embarrassing that one has to be faceless to ignore it. But us youths understand where they are coming at. And through that we are more open-minded. We are more receptive to others’ opinions. But no shorter than to just sit back and not challenge their ideas. However, there were some good from that. We can take their opinions as constructive criticism and then make it into direct suggestions to our incumbents. Besides that, we are also more aware about issues involving other nations like wars and internal conflicts there. We will feel instigated to play a role as a citizen of the world to advocate against those acts of crime. At the same time, we will develop a much more patriotic love for our country.

So far, I am really please with the changes of the mindset of the people in Malaysia. There is a growing sense of realisation that if we believe in a change, we can play an active role in showing our discontentment. Although, we may never be as liberal as some other nations, this are small steps towards the idea that conflicting ideas can be resolved by understanding discussions from all parties including us youths. Therefore, I would like to reiterate that having access to the Internet is like having a huge megaphone in our hands to shout out our thoughts. And if all of us can use this ‘megaphone’ and share our ideas collectively, coherently and harmoniously as a unit, then without a doubt, it will give our leaders more than one reason to perk their ears and listen attentively.

Happy 51st Merdeka (31st Aug 2008), Folks!

what the fog

A captured scene of my neighbour's house getting fogged (for mosquitoes) about 2 hours ago...

I thought they would do it for free... but they were asking for RM60.00!!! I mean isn't this things supposed to be covered by the Government? Why must we pay? This hasn't happened before. Normally they would just spray without alerting us - even though some of us may be having our evening jog! Which reminds me... mosquitoes are only active in the mornings and the evenings, so why were they fogging at this hour?? So like what's the deal?? Anyway, it has to be said, I have some rich neighbours for willing to pay that amount.

I was at London!

There!

Haha! If I was a little good at photoshopping; then perhaps I could have fool someone.

I bought my 'own' Tower Bridge actually. Yeah... I was bored... and I felt like doing some puzzles. I thought it would be great fun and challenging 'building' it! And I was totally proud with the end results! The price was quite reasonable - only RM29.90.

It was quite a challenge. But the instructions were simple enough. All in all, I took about 4 hours to finish the puzzle; over a span of 3 days.

All you really need is either really long and narrow fingernails or just a pair of scissors - just to poke the pieces of 'rice' out. This will form slots to insert the other pieces of puzzle in. It's up to you if want to apply some glue to stiffen the joints; but in my opinion it's generally not necessary.

So slowly...

but surely...

the bridge starts to shape.

Finally it's done!

And the real thing! Omg... Looks amazing!

A view from the 'road'.

From Beijing off to London!

I'm really impressed how similar it's from the real thing!

And at the back of the box, it comes with a brief history about Tower Bridge.

But I'm too malas (lazy) to copy it out. So here is an excerpt from Wikipedia.

Tower Bridge is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, England over the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, which gives it its name. It has become an iconic symbol of London. Tower Bridge is one of several London bridges owned and maintained by the City Bridge Trust, a charitable trust overseen by the City of London Corporation.

The bridge consists of two towers which are tied together at the upper level by means of two horizontal walkways which are designed to withstand the horizontal forces exerted by the suspended sections of the bridge to the left and the right. The vertical component of the forces in the suspended sections and the vertical reactions of the two walkways are carried by the two robust towers. The bascule pivots and operating machinery are housed in the base of each tower.

Tower Bridge is sometimes mistakenly referred to as London Bridge, which is actually the next bridge upstream. A popular urban legend is that, in 1968 Robert McCulloch, the purchaser of the old London Bridge which was later shipped to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, believed mistakenly that he was buying Tower Bridge, but this was denied by McCulloch himself and has been debunked by Ivan Luckin, the seller of the bridge. Its present colour dates from 1977 when it was painted red, white and blue for the Queen's Silver Jubilee. Previous to this, it was painted a chocolate brown colour.

So, anyway, CubicFun also sells puzzles of other world's great architecture - The Colosseum, Leaning Tower of Pisa (which they purposely made it to slant to aside. I thought it was cute. Ok never mind), Sydney Opera house, White House, Neuschwanstein Castle (which is Sleeping Beauty's Castle - and apparently the most challenging to build among all), etc...

I have no idea where else they are selling at, but I bought mind at Great Eastern Mall, along Jalan Ampang, at Lower Ground Level, just in front of Cold Storage.

flying Fletch

Manchester United have once again Darren Fletcher to thank! He has been in good form of late; making excellent late runs into the box; just like how Paul Scholes has been doing over the years! If he keeps this up, he could be challenging for a place in the starting 11 real soon! I have always been a fan of Fletcher. He always gives his 110% eventhough he starts on the bench. Anyway, it was a mighty impressive performance from our side. We played very well with the conviction to win. However I felt we were lacking some flair. We weren't as quick to break forward as how we played last season. But perhaps it's still too early to tell. We also lack the the sharpness in front of goal. A poacher of Berbatov's stature is exactly what we need! Glory~

don't just give me roses...

Sometimes being loved isn't enough
if we aren't appreciated...

monopoly

Oh well... Kuala Lumpur (KL) didn't make it into the first-ever international MONOPOLY edition game board MONOPOLY Here and Now: The World Edition. I did vote OKAY...

Well... at least Singapore didn't make it there either ;P

Oh and Montreal being the costliest...(got the most votes) I voted for Montreal too actually along with Beijing, New york, Sydney, Vancouver, Toronto, Tokyo and Et Cetera.

Et Cetera is not a city ok? ;P Okay I knew you know that -___-" Just being lame...

Those are some really cool 22 cities! I want to travel to each and every one!
I just found out that Riga is the capital of Latvia. Hmm... But where is Gdynia? I shall google that later.

So anyway, Monopoly’s global makeover goes beyond the switch from streets to cities as prime real estate. Hasbro said the old utilities of “Electric Company” and “Water Works” are being replaced with “Wind Energy” and “Solar Energy” to reflect the growing emphasis on worldwide environmental concerns. The four railroads prominent on the traditional monopoly board have been cut back to one with air, cruise and space travel now available as transportation options.

The international theme is also featured in the refurbished Community Chest and Chance cards which now allow players to organize global music festivals, or attend iconic cultural events such as Carnival in Rio De Janeiro or St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin.

The global edition of Monopoly is the latest in a series of modernizations meant to update the game from its original 1935 incarnation.

In addition to the global edition board game, which will be available on Aug. 26, an online and mobile version will be available for download the next day with a version for most popular gaming consoles set for release in October.

dose of randomness

When I'm bathing,
I hate it
when my bar of soap drops on the bathroom floor.

When I'm bathing,
I hate it
when my new bar of soap drops on the bathroom floor
especially when hairs or dirt get stuck on it.
Eww...

When I'm bathing,
I hate it more
when my new bar of soap drops
and hit my foot.
Ouch!

so sad...

Lost whale calf bonding with yacht off the Sydney coast

Kesian
(pitiful)! ='( Feed the poor whale!

According to BBC, Hopes are fading fast that the calf will survive as attempts to find it a surrogate mother by luring it out to sea have so far failed. Experts say the calf, nicknamed "Colin" by the Australian media, is growing weaker and has just days to live. They say that unless it feeds soon, it may have to be put down. Two previous attempts to lure Colin out to sea, where it is hoped that he would stand a chance of being paired with passing whale pod and adopted by a lactating female, have been unsuccessful.

A certain cheerleader won't like this...

#Latest - 23rd Aug 2008! Colin will be euthanised ='(

Beijing strucked again

"I'm number one! Number one!" Yes you are! You the man! And Happy Birthday to you too! Usain Bolt did it! He won the 200m race by a mile; setting a new world record (his second of the games) of 19.30 secs; breaking Michael Johnson (who said he wouldn't do it)'s 12 year record by 0.02 secs!

This time there wasn't any slowing down at the end; he really wanted the record. As he ran towards the finish line, you could see his eyes shifting towards the scoreboard. However, 'Golden Boots' still did his hilarious pre-race and post race antics in what the commentators coined as the chicken dance =P There was still and will always be his infamous indignants towards the other athletes. But take nothing away from him. He's the world's best and Olympian of the year in my books! I mean world record in both sprint events in one games... seriously who does that anymore in the modern era?

On another note, got to pity Spearman. Although he looked like he crossed Dix's lane, but it was cruel taking the medal away from him. It was like egg to his face when the news broke to him as he was celebrating. Also, Churandy Martina of the Netherlands Antilles who got second after the race was disqualified; apparently he too when out of his lane during the bend. The IOC robbed him of what would be his country's first medal ever! And the decision was made 2 hours after the race. Please return the silver to him and his nation!

Boy... is he a freak/horse or what?

zappp!

Words cannot describe the sensation of watching the 100 meters race at the Bird Nest Stadium. This was definitely one of my most anticipated event of the Beijing games. It really did not disappoint.

Usain Bolt smashed his own world record of 9.72 secs and bettered it to an all low 9.69 secs! And this coming from a guy who hadn't even considered to participate in the blue riband event until a few days before the games started! So since Bolt considers 200 meters his specialty. We can all expect Michael Johnson's record to be in serious threat!

The way Bolt ran the show was simply phenomenal! He even had the time to look both to his left and right as if to say, "where are you???" in pure contempt while giving himself a pat on his chest as he cruised to the finish line! It was something awesome! And the way he entertained and flaunted to the crowd just shows how much he knows he is good. It was great seeing an athlete like that! He was superior to the rest of the field. No one came close to him at all. Even though Trinidad's Richard Thompson got silver, it was delightful to see him so esctatic!

The race was supposedly a shoo-in between Tyson Gay, Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt. Gay failed to qualify from the semis and Powell only finished a poor 5th in the finals.

It was unbelievable that an Olympic competitor had the nerves and time to goof off right before the finish line! Bolt said he didn't know he broke the world record until much later. It shows he was there to win and not to break the world record. But he did both. One can only wonder how low the record could have gone if he had stucked to his routine.

our hero

Oh well... our dreams to end our Gold drought didn't quite make it. So close yet it was too much of a burden for one man, THE MAN, Lee Chong Wei. Prior to the finals, although Lin Dan had an advantage of 9-5 in terms of head to head records, I was fairly certain Chong Wei will come out with the goods. After all, he did win the last competitive game between the two. And Chong Wei was in tremendous form leading up to the finals, disposing the likes of Ronald Susilo and Lee Hyun Ill. The same thing can't be said for Lin Dan. However, I must be honest to say that the only of Lin Dan's game I watched was him playing in the semis against compatriot Chen Jin. He looked pretty ordinary there. But then again, they are fellow countryman. It would be cruel to humiliate him in front of the home crowd like how he did to Chong Wei. It was spectacular the way Lin Dan could anticipate each and every of Chong Wei's returns. Lin Dan was so quick at the net and he could smash from every angle on the court!

I had had high hopes for Chong Wei. Fairly certain he would win the coveted Olympic Gold Medal! I was even thinking the possibilities of a Lee Chong Wei Day! Or a Jalan Lee Chong Wei (Lee Chong Wei Road). Or something more fantastical along that line.

The game started and Lin Dan scored the first two point; letting out a roar to get the fans going. I was still very calm and confident as the game had only just began. Chong Wei even won the next point and gave and intimidating roar to his opponent. But Lin Dan wasn't deterred; didn't even cower or shuddered a bit. He stormed ahead to win the first set 21-12. At that moment, I got the jitters, feeling that it could end in just 2 sets. But I still had the confidence in Chong Wei that he would rally to win the next set and push for a decider.

But for the agony... Lin Dan wasted no time to go 8-0 up. I feared for the worse. But I had always believe in miracles. And if Chong Wei wanted to make a great historical comeback, he had to do something. But he didn't quite show up. It was embarrassing to lose 21-12, 21-8 in an Olympic finals! Lin Dan saluted his fans. It was great to see that, but painful to know at our expense. It was entertaining to see the jubilation of the crowd, to see how much the fans loved Lin Dan. He was trully a Chinese patriot. There wasn't any pressure at all for him playing in front of his family, friends and country men. He was proud and honoured to do it.

However, it isn't all dark and gloom. Lee Chong Wei still brought home a silver; possibly the only medal we will ever get this 29th games. He is still a national hero for that fact... and we salute you, Lee Chong Wei! Malaysia Boleh!

bucket list

"Nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty... I have never in my life envied a human being who led an easy life. I have envied a great many people who led difficult lives and led them well." -

Theodore Roosevelt

Sometimes in life, we have to make the odd sacrifices here and there, whether it's as trivial as leaving a favourite shirt at home... whether it costs an arm and a leg each time when you go shopping... whether it's for the contentment of others... whether it's finally letting go of someone you love... or whether it's for the greater good. But ultimately, we can only hope that there will be little or no cruel consequences and that life repays our 'good deeds' or 'investments' immediately.

It's true that they say that Nothing easy is worth doing Nothing worth doing is easy.

Berba finally a Devil!

But apparently he won't be our only signing! Fergie was caught to have quoted he has 3 or 4 targets! Refer to new Devilz? for our other targets! Could most prob be Huntelaar and Benzema =D

directive...

Last Friday, I got a surprise call from Hitz. I had expected to be like any other day... so I had planned to sleep my morning away. But it so happened on that particular day, I had left my phone on. After a few buzz, I had reluctantly opened my eyes (which reminds me of something funny - explanation later). I recognised their number and quickly cleared my throat; did a bit of 'testing 1-2-3' just to be sure I sounded normal awake.

I was still a little dazed when they told me I was selected to be on their WALL-E blind-mute date! Then it hit me! I had only entered that contest 2 days prior to that call. So my date and I would be among the few granted passes to watch WALL-E at Pavilion's Gold Class Cinema! I was pretty excited because I was longing to watch the show. I mean Pixar shows are always the best =D Hitz followed up with another call about 2 hours later to introduce my date, Michelle. We were to be on a romantic date at Glitters, allocated beside Pavilion's Cinema. And we had the chance to win an NEC laptop each! Hell yeah! I was quite excited.

Then yesterday came. Hitz phoned me another 2 more times, to take my main course order (wow!) and to confirm my attendance (I won't let my date be stood up no matter how much I wanted to bail). I was there 15 minutes before 7pm. Quite early...for my standards. Punctuality is always something I have been trying really hard to comply. I noticed the Hitz booth! Have to register! Lol! Ok... I was also observing from afar... people leaning against the railing - like waiting for someone.

Hitz booked the whole place! Omg. Damn otai! There were like 10 tables there with table sheets! I also noticed the martini cup. Somehow I felt, that could be as romantic as it would get. When the time came, we were seated with our dates. She looked...woah...! I mean I was totally underdressed. I was wearing jeans with a T-shirt. She was wearing a dress. 0_o So...anyway the 'dating game' began. We had to somehow divulge details about ourselves without speaking at all. She looked like she put in lots of effort. She knew sign language! I was like... :-O with a capital O. Yea... my mouth was shaped just about like that. I knew I had to do my best. She really wanted the laptop badly. We had fun trying to 'articulate' by gesturing. It was like charades. And clearly I wasn't good at it. I was blur on innumerable of occasions. But we had a few laughs trying to divulge and decipher. Thankfully we didn't have to silent our laughters.

I was kinda surprised dinner was good! I had no idea Glitters served food like that. We had salad first. Before that, we made a silent toast - To a good date. The lemon+mint tea was good! When they came to collect our plates, I tried to reclaim my fork. The waiter said it was ok. I guess I'm not cut out for fine-dining =P Next we had mushroom soup. I wasn't done yet and the waiter took it away! I was enjoying that. I tried not to make a scene. But I was pretty upset.

Ok I didn't have my blogger's instinct kicking yesterday. I mean it would be kinda strange/weird or jakun/sao pa kau. So I had to behave. Next was the main course I pre-ordered, fish. My date got the same thing. I will give their presentation an A. Taste A-. But overall very well above expectations! I could have the choice of either beef or pasta also. Next was our dessert. A small slice of cheese cake. Satisfying I would say. We filled up the details of our date this time (We filled ours earlier). And the scores were calculated. I had estimated our chances to be pretty good. Allow me to break it down. There were 10 couples including Michelle and I. 1 guy's date didn't make it. Another guy and girl came late. So we had 1/8 chance! Good odds, no? But no. We weren't even among the top 3! As we looked at the winners, I could help but feel a little envious... although I wasn't really there for the laptop. But the thing was they won a laptop that easily!

Anyway, were didn't go home empty-handed. I got what seemed to be a T-shirt...

It's a light bulb! Lol! How fitting...

So now if I have a burst bulb, I have an instant replacement! Not a bright idea right? hmm.. Anywho...

The date wasn't over yet...at 9.30pm, our movie started. Instead of trailers of other movies and mind-controlling ads, Pixar also played us Presto, a short 5 minutes humour about a magician and his bunny.

Then WALL-E started...

**********WARNING!! SPOILERS ALERT!**********

Wall-E is cute because it has the curiosity of a cat...

...but understands the meaning of love and emotions like humans.

I love the starting when they show Wall-E working; and collecting stuffs. Back at home he will neatly sort his collections. One scene, he couldn't decide if the utencil he found was a spoon or fork, so he placed it in between (It was actually a fork well curved to look like a spoon).

And early on I promised an explanation right? Well Wall-E also woke up feeling daze. He went to put on his 'shoes' or treads and knocked over a few stuffs! Turns out he ran out of batteries; so had to recharged himself using solar panels.

Wall-E goes a long way to impress EVE.

Wall-E's secret to courting 'female' bots:

Eve: Name?
WALL.E: WALL-E.
Eve: WALL-E?
[giggles]
Eve: Eve.
WALL.E: Eva?
Eve: Eve.
WALL.E: Eeeeeva?
Eve: Eve! Eve!
WALL.E: Eeeeeva?
Eve: [giggles]

This is a scene where Eve tries to shoot the Big Mouth Billy Bass (singing fish), then Wall-E starts handing her objects to play with: eggbeater (she spoils it), bubblewrap, light bulb (picture), Rubik's cube, etc. Then she pulls the tape out of the VHS tape and he freaks out. He rewinds the tape and puts it in the machine. It plays back and he presents the video to Eve. She scans it.

Haha! And the people 700 years into the future are like slugs!

**********END SPOILERS**********

Overall, I felt the movie was good... very heart-warming. Funny and cute...but predictable. It's a family show with plenty of Disney's classic moral values. And I would like to thank Hitz.fm for this blind date. Michelle was great. A good date. I had loads of fun which I had not expected =)

sitcom

If you could live your life like that of a sitcom, which sitcom would it be? Wouldn't it be great?? Just like FRIENDS for example, where everything always turn out alright in the end (well at most in half hour); where there's always a happy ending. Unfortunately that doesn't apply to the real world, where our lives have its fair share of ups and downs; where we would accept that failures are part of a success; where what we hope for doesn't always turn out as rosy as we liked.

If life was just like FRIENDS's world, aside from the fake laughter every time something funny was said or done (which can be disturbing and annoying - especially if the laughter goes off timing when we aren't being funny), Joey would always be raiding our fridges. Chandler would be trying to be funny. Monica will volunteer to clean our house. Ross would be sharing some Did-you-know stuffs about dinosaurs. Phoebe would annoy us with her Smelly Cat song. Rachel... well Rachel would just look hot! And we would always hang out in Central Perk with a huge cup of coffee. (Our place always reserved at the same place =P) Isn't that just a hilarious world?

Then, in a sitcom, everyone (family and friends) would always be there to care for each other. Emotions are shared. We can always get a hug if we needed one. Someone will always be there if we needed someone to talk to. Lies and secrets are almost a null. If there's a guest star, everyone would start clapping (though that's a lil weird). Everything is so random and so much fun! The only bad thing I can think of a sitcom life is that there will always be around 3 intervals of commercials. Would we go into pause then? Hmm..I dunno. I guess it will give us time to pee privately or let the audience scrutinise us further; discussing about our lives.

So sorry. I have been totally buggered lately. Loads of stuff to get off my chest. Hopefully I would be blogging about positive stuffs soon ;)

hair

I have this theory that if girls cut their hair; whether it's a looooooong or shrt, it can only mean that they are moving up a notch to a different stage of their life. They probably are ready to leave something behind; bad memories; events in their lives that they want to forget immediately - like a bad break up or prob a bad day at the office or a bad hair day? - and look forward to a much better future in their perspective. So simply a trip to the hair salon is like a therapy session. It's no wonder more than often their hairdresser knows more about them than anyone else. A new hair cut can therefore mean a bad omen to everyone else. Haha! Simply said, girls can chronicle their lives based on the period between new hair cuts.

Girls! Sorry! Don't kill me for just voicing out an opinion! I wish I can provide more evidences though...

lies my parents told me

My parents used to tell me that if I swallowed seeds while eating watermelons or any other fruit for that matter, a watermelon patch would grow in my stomach and would eventually kill me! I know deep down that this isn't true, but I still made a habit of removing some seeds, especially the bigger ones before taking a bite!

*************************************************************************************

I was also told that if I swallowed a chewing gum, I could suffocate and die. Still not sure if that was true. But it sure freaked me out to even try to chew a gum when I was younger till I saw my cousins chewing them. Heh.

*************************************************************************************
When I was young, I guess I wasn't like most kids. Even when I was 7, I used to sleep real late. Probably at 2-3 on a non-school night. My dad used to say that if I sleep late (past midnight), witches would kidnapped me and I won't be able to come back home again. It kinda freaked me out as I also read such stories in Enid Blytons.

*************************************************************************************

I used to hate eating greens. Sometimes I would scoop my veges back onto my mom's plate when she wasn't looking. My mom would tell me that if I don't eat my veges, I would have lots of pimples. Then she would get uncles and cousins on her side to help her justify her statement with proofs! Now I have pimples. I guess I defied her =P Another similar story was that if I don't finish everything on my plate, my future wife would have lots of pimples! Omg...

*************************************************************************************

A family friend once said that if I could spread my hand and cover my face, I would live quite long. When I did it, she smacked my own hand against my nose! Ouuch!

*************************************************************************************

My mom used to say that she could see what we were doing at home from her office through her pictures! That was freaky!

disenchanted - sad lil soul

Life is much too precious to be spent on rankling on our past. For the first time in awhile, I came to terms that living is not all about fixing the past but by living each day as if it were your last. Corny as it sounds, a little constant reminding isn't going to hurt anyone. I guess I probably misunderstood George Santayana famous quote “those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it”.

But I supposed what was significantly meant was that, we should remember our past, but not try to undo things. What's done will be done and can never be undone. We just have to get on with life. It's pointless to have all that energy on just worrying about the what ifs and what have I dones. Sometimes to make peace with ourselves, we just got to ignore the problem and forget it ever happened, or a simple fervent apology will suffice.

Too many times have I put myself in a grilling. Instead of living life, I rebuke myself over my actions. Too often have I tried to figure out if I were playing the good guy or bad guy role. So many times, I felt guilty and remorseful about the things I said. The one incident which still pretty much haunts me today revolves around P. P is the kind of person I really like. We would talk quite often before. Until one day that is... I personally can't recall when. We began talking less frequent. I figured P was probably just busy. I couldn't have suspected anything. It wasn't until a few months back when I realised P wasn't even replying to my texts or answering my calls. It's very depressing to know it's happening. I keep grieving to myself about what I have done. Did I say or do anything wrong? I kept blaming myself, condemning myself to an eternity of unforgivable misery.

Because of that, I had surrendered my soul to the most of morbid and gloomy of thoughts. I made a deal with the devil himself to spare P from anything and just let me be miserable. I was so upset and depressed with myself. I tried to think about happy stuffs. But it is hard to find that now. Sometimes when I dwell in my deepest darkest moments, I would imagine ways of punishing my own self. How I wish that P could just tell me what I did wrong and I would be fine rather than not saying anything at all. I would even be far happier if I received public humiliation. Just thinking about it makes my whole world crumble and tumble. T______T Saddening...

I am actually quite disappointed sad upset angry troubled heart-broken pissed okay right now. If I am ever down again, I would ask myself; why should we judge ourselves? Or why should we worry ourselves about what others think? Sighsss...... But it's not that simple. I really do care about P. I just want P to know that after all of that nothing of how I feel for her will ever change. But I suppose I have to learn to cope with a part and parcel of life.

lose yourself

We get our best ideas when we clearly concentrate and let our thoughts wonder. One moment we are facing a clear white wall and suddenly we are in a vertigo of very vivid mixture of colours; like a kaleidoscope. It's very awe-inspiring if you know what you are looking for. Kinda like looking for Waldo in an artistic picture.

But sometimes when I look for ideas, I find the best place is in the shower. Hmm. So that 3 x 3 feet area is my thinking zone. My own space. Somehow I could clearly visualise myself being under a rainfall. It will be darn relaxing while I let my mind drift away. It's like the trickling water clears all my troubles away; at the same time allowing me to think about stuffs.

My thoughts can range from just about anything. Like the other day, I was thinking about apocalyse. Yeah it's a bit morbid. But it was just a thought about what ifs. How would we all react if one day aliens land on our planet? Would we stay calm? A sudden influx into religious houses? What will the military power nations do? I'm definitely a firm believer of ET. No doubt they exist. The universe is so vast; why wouldn't they be out there somewhere? I even read somewhere that our universe split equally from time to time; just like going through a mitotic process. So that will mean, another Earth exist our there with YOU and I in it; probably doing the same thing. Then I wonder again. What if looking through a mirror is like looking through a different dimension? Although that will defy the laws of Physics, I just couldn't help but wonder.

Usually I will daydream to gather ideas for stories I would like to write next time; even songs. Sometimes I will tie it up with personal experiences. Because that's as original as it can get right?
Life can be so complicated. From others' view, it's interesting reading about people's life and how they are coping it. But torture bordering onto dementia for the writer. It's not all bed of roses. Not even bed of mud. Sometimes falling to sleep is more of a compulsive thing rather than a ritual or necessity.

tiptop

The past three days in Malaysia has been really hot and humid...which is pretty normal...but after some relatively comfortable weather...not to mention plenty of mosquitoes! Arrgh! And coincidentally it's durian season!

In case you didn't realise that, it's either you have been living in an underground bunker (the smell isn't that bad) or you haven't been reading enough Kee's World... So there! Thank me later...

So anyway, durians aren't my thing... Just reading other people's blog about Oreo made me hungry! I just had to have my own Oreo moment.

What was the rule again?? Oh yea...lick, dip & dunk!

But I was still feeling hot... Thankfully we have ice cream in the freezer!

Scooped some for the family as well + kiwi + banana + Oreo (somewhere underneath the concoction/ice cream salad)

...+ mangoes dang! ran out of choc mints. Ok... nevermind... it's concocted enough.

There! Everyone can be happy... =)

hell on heels

This was the last book I read. It is a fun chick lit I would say except the part where descriptions upon descriptions of outfits and styles of brands are elaborated. I couldn't care any less during those bits (that's why I felt I connected with Andy's character). I probably just breezed through that part not bothering to figure out how they actually dressed like. I mean there are plenty of sophisticated and extremely expensive designers items out there which I never heard of before reading this. Fo shizzle the likes of Prada, Jimmy Choo, Chanel, Versace, YSL, etc will be banking lots after the publication of this book.

The book is also witty. I loved the way Andy reacted in the end. Haha! Anyway, praises to Lauren for her first book. Of the movie, I totally digged it. Meryl Streep was a perfect Miranda! And I loved Anne!

A bit of reminiscing about my boss...she wasn't any devilish at all. Maybe it was because I was a temporary worker back then. But she still seemed genuinely nice.
